In these stages there are four main stages of oral cancer and the treatment plan and helps in determining the degree of cancer spread. The following stages of oral cancer are described in detail:
Stage 0 (Zero):
- Description: “In situ”, which is called in this stage, the cancer cells in the superficial and deep tissues is limited to the mouth tissue or has spread to neighboring regions yet.
- Symptoms: Usually only appears as a superficial blemish or a scar. At this stage, typically the chances of cure are high.
Stage I:
- Description: Cancer tumor is smaller than 2 cm and in the mouth is usually slightly from the main area has expanded. Just inside the mouth cancer to the lymph nodes and surrounding tissue is limited or has not spread to distant organs.
- Symptoms: A small tumor or scar, and is typically found in the tissues inside the mouth.
Stage II:
- Description: Cancer can grow between 2-4 cm tumor and surrounding lymph nodes may be in. The cancer is still in the mouth or the surrounding tissue is limited.
- Symptoms: Larger tumors or scar may be, but has not spread to the lymph nodes or distant organs environmental.
Stage III:
- Description: Cancer tumor may have spread to the lymph nodes may exceed more than 4 cm or environmental. At this stage, the cancer is likely to spread to surrounding tissues and lymph nodes.
- Symptoms: A larger tumor or cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes surrounding the cells along with can be. The cancer has not spread to distant organs.
Stage IV:
- Description: At this stage, the cancer has spread to other parts of the body and is the most advanced stage shows. Stage IV is usually three sub-phases can be divided into:
- Stage IVA: Or a large tumor may have spread to adjacent organs. May have spread to lymph nodes or adjacent tissues environmental.
- Stage IVB: Cancer has spread to the lymph nodes and may have spread to the surrounding tissues environmental. In this phase, the tumors usually can be large or numerous.
- Stage IVC: The cancer to distant organs (liver, the lungs, such as cancer. In this stage, the advanced stage and is considered to be the most serious.
Staging System:
In the staging of oral cancer usually the “TNM” system is used:
- T (Tumor): Specifies the location and size of the tumor.
- N (Nodes): Indicates whether the cancer has spread to surrounding lymph nodes.
- M (Metastasis): Indicates whether the cancer has spread to distant organs.
Diagnosis and treatment:
- Diagnosis: Physical examination staging, biopsy, X-rays, computed tomography (SA) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests, such as is done with.
- Treatment: Varies depending on the stage and treatment options, surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or may include combinations of these methods.
Suggestions:
- Regular Checks: Regular dental health checks for early detection and perform.
- Early Intervention: If you notice signs of cancer, immediately contact a health care professional.
Stages of oral cancer, is critical for predicting the prognosis of the patient and determine the treatment plan.
