Crown Dental Bridge

Kron Dental Bridge

Crowns and bridges are prosthetic treatment methods commonly used in dentistry. These treatments are used to strengthen your teeth, provide an aesthetic appearance and replace missing teeth. Both crowns and bridges help restore the appearance and function of your natural teeth.

What is a Crown Tooth?

Kronis a crown placed over a tooth that is damaged, weakened or needs aesthetic correction. The crown covers the entire tooth, protecting and strengthening it and mimicking the shape of the natural tooth. Crowns are usually made of durable materials such as porcelain, ceramic, metal or zirconium.

  • When is it applied?
  • If a large part of the tooth is decayed or broken
  • To strengthen the tooth after root canal treatment
  • To change the shape or color of the tooth for aesthetic purposes
  • As prostheses placed over dental implants

What is a Bridge Tooth?

Bridgeis a prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge is fixed by placing crowns on healthy teeth (abutment teeth) on either side of the missing teeth. To fill the space between these crowns, artificial teeth (pontics) are placed as part of the bridge.

  • When is it applied?
  • One or more teeth are missing
  • If the gap caused by the missing tooth causes other teeth to shift and the jaw structure to deteriorate
  • If a permanent and fixed solution is required to replace missing teeth

Differences between Crown and Bridge

  • Scope:
  • Kron: It covers and protects a single tooth.
  • The bridge: It is used to cover one or more missing teeth and usually covers more than one tooth.
  • Support:
  • Kron: It is placed on a single tooth.
  • The bridge: Crowns are placed on the teeth on either side of the missing teeth to support the bridge.
  • Implementation:
  • Kron: It is placed directly on the tooth.
  • The bridge: It is attached to the surrounding teeth to cover one or more missing teeth.

Treatment Process

  1. Inspection and Planning:
  • Your dentist will examine your teeth to determine whether you are suitable for crown or bridge treatment. If necessary, dental x-rays will be taken to assess the condition of the teeth.
  1. Tooth Preparation:
  • Teeth are prepared for the crown or bridge. At this stage, a light abrasion is made for the crown to be placed on the tooth.
  1. Measurement
  • The prepared teeth are measured and a customized crown or bridge is produced in the laboratory.
  1. Placement of Crown and Bridge:
  • The prepared crown or bridge is carefully placed and fixed to your teeth. Your dentist will make sure that the dentures fit snugly and are comfortable.
  1. Final Checks
  • Finally, your dentist will check the bite alignment and make any necessary adjustments.
